Bordered to the North by Mill Hill and Barnet and to the East by Finchley, Hendon is the civic centre of the London Borough of Barnet. The Town Hall at the Burroughs is where the first speech was made by local MP, Margret Thatcher after she became Prime Minister.
Hendon is famous nationwide for being the location of the Metropolitan Police College and the site of the RAF Museum at the Hendon Aerodrome, and is also home of the Middlesex University Campus.
Remains of a Roman settlement have been found dating from AD300 and Hendon has been a popular residential area ever since. Indeed in 1931 Hendon was the most populated urban district in the United Kingdom.
