CROUCH END (N8)


Over the past 15 years Crouch End has become established as a fashionable and vibrant Urban Village. Centred around the Broadway with the Clock Tower as a focal point, there is a wide variety of shops ranging from multi- national supermarkets to retro furniture shops and family run butchers and bakers. The abundance of restaurants and Cafes gives a choice of cuisine from all four corners of the globe.

The area was mainly developed in the late Victorian and early Edwardian era, and offers a mix of large family homes and converted flats, with a selection of more modern houses and purpose built blocks. There are a great many green spaces around including, Priory Park, Queens Woods, Parkland Walk, to the south Finsbury Park and to the north Alexandra Palace and Park.

Although Crouch End has no tube station, it is extremely well served by major bus routes and has 2 BR main line stations (20 minute service to Moorgate) near by and is surrounded by Finsbury Park (Piccadilly & Victoria line).

 

EAST FINCHLEY (N2)

Driving south along the A1000 between the North Circular Road and Highgate, East Finchley lies at the southern end of the London Borough of Barnet and is one of those areas that you can drive through and almost not realise it. Once you have lived in the area, however, it is unlikely that you would ever want to move out.

The main shopping centre is located along the High Road and around the cross-roads which lead to Fortis Green and Finchley Central. Close by is the Underground Station (Northern Line), which is the last stop in zone 3.

East Finchley almost conveys a 'village atmosphere', with many interesting local shops, pavement cafes, art workshops and areas of excellent outdoor space at Cherry Tree Woods. The eastern end of Hampstead Garden Suburb forms part of East Finchley and the highly regarded Bishops Avenue runs from close to the underground Station towards Hampstead.

The variety and price of property in East Finchley is extremely wide; with small converted flats recently built; purpose-built blocks of apartments; Victorian and Edwardian houses; purpose built maisonettes; as well as the executive-style or family home located in and around Creighton Avenue. Further more a wide variety of executive-style houses located in and around the Fortis green area and the popular 'country road' locations.

 

FINCHLEY CENTRAL (N3)

Despite being so close to the West End and within easy commuting distance of the City, Finchley Central retains its suburban character of quiet residential areas.

To the west of West Finchley underground station lies Finchley golf course. The conservation area, Church End, preserves the original parish church and Christ's college with its 'pepper-pot' tower. Grove Lodge, bordering Regents Park Road, remains one of the few surviving Victorian Homes in the area. Finchley also offers a selection of more modern houses, as well as flats and apartments in purpose-built blocks.

All denominations are represented in this cosmopolitan locality with many Synagogues, Churches and Mosques.

The area is well serviced by most forms of transport, including Northern Line Tube stations at both Finchley Central and West Finchley as well as many bus routes and good road links into the city of London with the M1 link only a short distance away. The general area also has a large selection of schools, both primary and secondary, many of which having a fine reputation for success in exam results.

The main shopping area in Finchley is Ballards Lane at the heart of which is a large Tesco's superstore, as well as many bars and restaurants nearby offering a variety of tastes and cuisine from around the world.

 

MUSWELL HILL (N10)


Muswell Hill provides residents with views of the metropolis to take your breath away. The area has become increasingly popular as a wide variety of independent traders carry out their business alongside established high street names. Coupled with a plethora of cafes and restaurants there is a vibrant village atmosphere, all perched above the expanse of London.

Wide, tree-lined avenues feature many types of accommodation but the area is particularly noteworthy for its grand double-fronted Edwardian houses providing excellent family homes. With the green spaces of Alexandra Park, Queen's Wood and Highgate Wood all nearby, as well as golf courses, tennis courts and bowls greens there are plenty of opportunities for exercise.

Although there is no tube at Muswell Hill there are excellent bus services to services to Finsbury Park (Victoria, Piccadilly and BR) and East Finchley (Northern)

 

NORTH FINCHLEY (N12)

There is a range of styles and periods of property to choose from, with the centre of North Finchley being mainly Victorian and Edwardian; the outskirts being 20's and 30's; Woodside Park being pre and post Second World War; and with new builds of the 1980's and 90's.

North Finchley has many major retailers like Argos, WHSmiths, Woolworth's, Our Price, Boots, Sainsburys, Furniture land, Waitrose, and Iceland. In addition there are many smaller retailers along with all the main Building Societies and Banks.

There are a vast array of fine eateries including Chinese, Indian, Italian, Thai, and Greek. With the Warner Village Cinema, tenpin bowling alley, public and private swimming pools, health centres, tennis and golf courses North Finchley holds no shortage of things to do.

Woodside Park has Friary Park and "Riverside Walk" for a more relaxing ramble and the Boroughs "Flagship" community arts centre to be built in 2001 in North Finchley will help bring new life to the area.

 

WHETSTONE (N20)

Leisure time in Whetstone is greatly served by, restaurants ranging from al-la-carte to pizza, wine bars, public houses, snooker hall, and North Middlesex Golf Course, as well as many other recreational parks and activities.

The High Road is equipped with various well known retailers, such as Waitrose, Iceland, B&Q, and Mark & Spencer. Just a short distance away is the rural and very beautiful Totteridge Village and Totteridge Common with its natural environment and facilities for horse riding, fishing and many nature rambles.

The nearby town of Barnet has its own market on Saturday, shortly to be open on Friday; and the Spires a fairly recently built shopping mall has parking facilities and many well-known shops. There is also a large library nearby, and a variety of eateries.
